Almost 8 Months Old!

Contessa turns 8 months old on the 4th.  She is getting better about sitting on her own, but is still very prone to tipping over.  She has started sitting in highchairs at restaurants and thinks she's a really big girl when she's in one.  Her first tooth broke through last week and she had her first taste of food.  I mashed up some avocado, but she didn't really like it.  That's ok though, because Gunnar polished it off.  She has begun to make bubbles with her spit.  She bounces like a crazy woman in her door bouncer and she thinks all her siblings are a hoot.  Contessa is a true mama's girl.  She fills my arms for a good chunk of the day and she wakes me up a million times a night to nurse.  I can't believe she is growing up so fast!

Fun times with trees

So about a month ago when we had a bad wind storm, a big chunk of one of our trees split off.  The kids were amazed by this and spent much time climbing and exploring the big mess.  Every morning I would open my back curtains and remember there was that darn tree back there waiting to be chopped up.  Fortunately, last week, Nate snagged a chain saw from my grandpa and made quick work of the tree.  What a relief every morning when I look in the back yard! Now I just have to keep the kids from throwing the wood around.  Julius came in crying the other day saying that Layla hit him in the head with a log. Kids!

Contessa at 6 Months

Contessa turned 6 months old last week. She is our lovely chubby bunny.  Here she is wearing one of my favorite outfits from when Layla was a baby.  The knees of the pants are stained because Layla wore this outfit when she crawled at 9 to 12 months old.  Contessa is a bit bigger than Layla at this age.  She is very smiley and giggly.  She started playing peek-a-boo the other day with her burp cloth.  She has even started to cry "ma-ma-ma-ma-ma" when she is upset.  She loves bouncing in her bouncy swing, being held by mama, playing with her toys and being entertained by her siblings.  Happy 6 months Contessa!

Can I Keep'em Coming

About 4 weeks ago Layla received the Moody series from my mother.  Each book ranges from about 185 to 195 pages and there is only one picture per chapter.  Layla has already polished off 4 of these books in 4 weeks!  That makes me nervous because I want to keep her reading massive amounts of books, but I am a bit picky about content because she is very sensitive in spirit.  These books are great because they are about a homeschooling family, so Layla gets to see some similarities to her own life!  She is amazing!  I better go read some more to keep up with her!

Cut Poison Burn

I watched this film this week and it just messed me up.  Kinda in the same way that Food, Inc. and Super Size Me messed me up.  I heard someone say last night that "the first sight of truth is in doubting."  If what you see in this trailer interests you, head on over to cutpoisonburn.com and you can download the entire film for a "personal value fee" which means donate what you can for the cost of the film.

Real Answers for Real People

Update:  Ok people, we've had about 40 views and no comments yet.  I know everybody has an opinion, especially regarding politics, so who is going to be the first brave soul to get this discussion rolling!?!

I am loving all the new Ron Paul campaign ads!  Check them out here since they may not be airing in your state yet.  I would love to hear people's likes and dislikes regarding Ron Paul.  Maybe we can get a lively discussion going on!  After last night's debate, which seemed so full of "he said, she said" garbage and fluff from the front-runners, it would be nice to actually hear some real concerns from people and get some real answers of how a candidate would fix those problems.  Don't hold back.  I'll do my best to address any comment.  Let's just remember to keep things respectful and "above the belt."

Mommy and Daddy

Because too often, we just take pictures of the kids, and forget to get in some of the pictures ourselves!
