86

That's the number that I read on our thermostat last night. Our thermostat is in our living room which tends to be one of the coolest rooms in our house. It had to be at least a few degrees warmer upstairs. Our house stays marvelously cool most of the summer as long as the temps go down at night. We have lots of window fans in which we suck cool air in all night long and that keeps the temp down for the following day. But with these extremely hot days and hot nights, our house doesn't stand a chance.

Nate graciously canceled his afternoon coffee appointment with our pastor yesterday so that he could get the whole family into a cooler place. We headed to Steak-n-Shake for burgers and then we stopped off at the Meijer next door for ice cream. My kids do have some food allergies, so we are not able to get ice cream at any of the local stands, so we went to the grocery store and bought the little single servings of Ben and Jerry's and Starbucks all natural ice cream cups and ate them in their little deli/cafeteria area. The kids loved it and we were able to stay in the air conditioning even longer. After that we headed home and loaded up quickly for the lake.

Oh that lake water! I could have soaked in the lake for the rest of the evening. All of the family really enjoyed just sitting and splashing in the water. It really does wonders cooling the body. Especially when you come home to an 86 degree house! Supposedly, thunderstorms are coming soon. Hopefully they cool things off a bit.

  1. You guys need to buy a lake house!

I'm glad your family could get to some place cooler. I'll connect with Nate later. :)
